In charge of the entire product lifecycle for the entire suite of The Wall Street Journal’s editorial tools and underlying services, including: overall product strategy (including legacy retirement), design thinking-driven discovery, product ownership, and stakeholder relations at all echelons of the WSJ newsroom and its parent companies, all the while bringing design-driven expertise, empathy and fast, iterative Agile-driven processes into the forefront of the program.
I was the first-ever product manager for the internal editorial tools at the WSJ and Dow Jones, working with three different legacy engineering teams, in which I helped determine requirements, design and roll out tools and features in conjunction with the WSJ consumer product teams. Reinvented and rolled out tools & features to solve problems for: multimedia search and image cropping, charting for all platforms, live coverage, and content planning.
Design pages and illustration commission for several sections of the print edition. Created an editorial tool using HTML/CSS/Javascript, created and maintained an API to power it. Responsible for project in its entirety from wireframing/planning to launch. Handled branding for 16-article Money & Investing banking series, introduced new ways WSJ.com can package content and helped members of edit desk learn new and existing tools along the way.
Designed A1/News sections for 13 of the studio's 21 different managed newspapers, as well as building HTML/CSS/Javascript apps to power special iPad-only features for the Indianapolis Star.
